This WFS service provides boundary data for Special Protection Areas (SPAs) designated under the Natura 2000 network in Malta, published by the Planning Authority. Sites submitted to the European Commission require a datasheet and map for each proposed Site of Community Importance (SCI) and each SPA, except where an SCI shares the exact boundary as an SPA, in which case a single combined datasheet is prepared. The dataset supports spatial analysis of protected areas relevant to environmental planning, conservation, and education.The submission of sites to the EC entails the preparation of a datasheet and a map for each site, that is for each proposed SCI and for each SPA, unless a proposed SCI has the exact boundary as an SPA; in the latter case only one datasheet is prepared comprising all relevant information.
