This dataset provides an un-nested lake catchment layer developed in 2022 to support implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC), which establishes a framework for the protection, improvement and management of surface waters and groundwaters in Ireland. For every WFD lake water body, an individual, non-overlapping (un-nested) catchment boundary is delineated, allowing each lake's contributing drainage area to be assessed independently rather than as part of a larger nested hierarchy.
