This dataset provides sweep radar reflectivity products from individual German weather radar sites, published by Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD). Data has a horizontal resolution of 1 degree by 250 m over a range of 150 km, updated every 5 minutes, and is offered both with and without a polarimetric filter that flags interference and improves data quality. Coverage includes radar sites such as Borkum, Boostedt, Rostock, Hannover, Dresden, Feldberg, and Memmingen, among others. Files are provided in HDF5 format; converting stored values to physical units (dBZ) requires the gain, offset, nodata, and undetect attributes described in the OPERA weather radar information model specification.These sweep radar data are location reflectivity products. Horizontal resolution is 1 degree x 250 m. The horizontal range is 150 km. The product has an availability of 5 min. This data is available with and without a polarimetric filter, which marks interference signals and increases the quality of the data. The data is available for the following radar sites: Borkum, Boostedt, Rostock, Hannover, Ummendorf, Prötzel, Essen, Flechtdorf, Dresden, Neuhaus, Neuheilenbach, Offenthal, Eisberg, Türkheim, Isen, Feldberg, Memmingen. Up-to-date radar site data is available in the linked list of "Radar and wind profiler locations of DWD". Note: In order to convert the numerical values contained in the HDF5 files into physical quantities (dBZ), it is necessary to use the attributes “gain”, “offset”, “nodata” and “undetect”; see section 4.5 in ‘OPERA weather radar information model in HDF5 v2.3 (PDF)’.
