This dataset, provided by the Kommunales Rechenzentrum Niederrhein (KRZN) in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, contains simplified boundary geometries for municipalities, district-free cities, and districts within its service area, as well as bounding boxes for each unit. It covers the municipal boundaries of the association area, including the city of Krefeld and the districts of Kleve, Viersen, and Wesel, plus the regional ALKIS parcel data service area covering Bottrop and the district of Mettmann. Because the source geometries are highly detailed, they are generalized using a Douglas-Peucker filter with a 20-meter tolerance and exported as OGC WKT text files, available in both EPSG:4326 (WGS 84) and EPSG:25832 (ETRS89/UTM zone 32N) coordinate systems.This data series contains simplified circles and the minimum surrounding rectangles (Bounding Box) around each municipality, district-free city and each district within the association area, as well as for the association area itself. On the one hand, the municipal boundaries of the association (for the city of Krefeld as well as the districts of Kleve, Viersen and Wesel and their affiliated municipalities) on the other hand, the regional service for ALKIS floor plan data in a simplified scheme (for the city of Bottrop as well as the district of Mettmann and its affiliated municipalities). Since the underlying data has a very high level of detail, and the point amount is too high for many other applications, the data is generalized (simplified) via a Douglas-Peucker filter with a tolerance of 20m and then output as an OGC WKT string in text files. This text file is available in both EPSG:4326 (WGS 84) and EPSG:25832 (UTM-32N on ETRS).
