Designated Nitrate Vulnerable Zone for Malta
This dataset provides the geospatial layer designating Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZ) in Malta, published by the Planning Authority. Currently, the entire territory of the Maltese Islands is designated as a Nitrate Vulnerable Zone, in accordance with Article 3 of Council Directive 91/676/EEC concerning the protection of waters against pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources. The data is served via a WMS (Web Map Service) interface, allowing integration into GIS applications for spatial analysis and mapping of areas subject to nitrate-related agricultural regulation across the national territory.This layer designates the Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZ). At present the whole of the Maltese Islands are designated as a NVZ, as per Article 3 of Council Directive 91/676/EEC.
