This dataset provides the geographic location of Natural Areas of Ecological Interest (Milieux Naturels d'Intérêt Ecologique, MNIE) within the Pays de Rennes area for 2016, published by Rennes Métropole. The MNIE inventory was launched in the 1990s on the initiative of local elected officials from the District de Rennes, as a voluntary effort to better account for biodiversity across the territory. It has substantially enriched local environmental knowledge over time.
