Urgent notices to mariners in force in French metropolitan waters

DatasetDiscovered1/7blocked by verifiedDownloadSubscribe🇫🇷France

This dataset provides urgent notices to mariners (AVURNAV) currently in force in French metropolitan waters, along with a historical record of previously issued notices. AVURNAVs alert navigators to hazards such as wrecks, missing buoys, damaged lighthouses, or military firing exercises, in line with obligations under the IMO and IHO conventions and the SOLAS agreement. In France, these notices are normally broadcast at sea via VHF (including semaphores), NAVTEX, and Inmarsat, and are also available at harbour master's offices and maritime prefecture websites. The dataset includes a real-time API for accessing current AVURNAVs as well as archived notices. At sea, events may disrupt safe navigation: wreckage, missing buoy, broken lighthouse, military fire, etc. The IMO (International Maritime Organization) and the IHO (International Hydrographic Organization) require the signatory states of the SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) Convention to identify and disseminate the potential dangers to navigation in the waters under their responsibility. This information is called navigational warnings in international conventions and "urgent notices to navigators" (abbreviated as AVURNAV) in France. The diffusion of these AVURNAV in France is ensured at sea by VHF, in particular by semaphores, after calling on channel 16 or on the frequency 2 182 kHz, NAVTEX or Inmarsat. These opinions can also be consulted in the harbour master's offices and on the sites of the maritime prefects. This dataset lists: - an API to access these AVURNAVs in real time; - a history of the AVURNAVs that have been issued.
