This dataset provides the 2011 edition of France's Graphic Parcel Register (RPG), a geographic information system created to meet EU Regulation (EC) No 1593/2000 requiring Member States to locate and identify agricultural parcels. Farmers submit annual area declarations delineating the crop islets they farm, located at 1:5000 scale on IGN's BD Ortho photographic base and updated yearly. The data released here cover, per metropolitan department, the anonymized boundaries of these islets together with their majority crop group, provided as vector Shapefiles with geometry in the Lambert 93 projection, alongside an attribute code identifying the dominant crop group. Data are published by the Agence de services et de paiement (ASP).Community Regulation (EC) No 1593/2000 introduced the obligation, in all Member States, to locate and identify agricultural parcels.To meet this requirement, France has set up the Parcel Graphic Register (RPG), which is a geographical information system allowing the identification of agricultural parcels. Thus, each year, farmers send the administration an area declaration file which includes, in particular, the drawing of the growing islands they farm and the crops grown there. The location of the islets is 1:5000 scale on the photographic background of the BD Ortho (IGN) and their update is annual. This database therefore constitutes a large-scale and regularly updated description of the majority of agricultural land.The data available through Etalab, for a given metropolitan department, are the contours of the "anonymized" islets of the RPG and their cultural occupation represented by the majority crop group of the islet. These raw data, in vector mode, are encoded in Shapefile format according to a data model described in an associated file.The geometry of the islets is in Latitude/Longitude in the Lambert 93 projection system.The attribute content provided is the value of the code of the majority crop group in the islet.
