Low distortion area
This dataset defines low distortion areas used in Switzerland's official cadastral survey. Within these zones, coordinates already meet higher geometric accuracy criteria, so surveyors working in the field are not required to perform a local adaptation or provide proof that one is unnecessary. Outside these areas, a local adaptation must be applied or its unnecessity demonstrated. Knowledge of these zone boundaries supports practical fieldwork planning and quality assurance in surveying.
