Digital Canopy Surface Model - State 2017
This dataset provides a Digital Canopy Surface Model for the canton of Geneva as of 2017, representing the ground area covered by tree foliage. It can be used to calculate the canopy index, expressed as a percentage of a territory, in order to assess the degree of tree cover across the area. The data were derived from LiDAR point clouds acquired in February 2017. The dataset is published by the Système d'information du territoire genevois (SITG), the geographic information service of the canton of Geneva, Switzerland, and is freely accessible without authentication, making it useful for environmental monitoring and urban planning studies. The Numerical Canopy Surface Model (NCM) represents the floor area covered by tree foliage. This area can be used to calculate the canopy index in % of a territory in order to assess the degree of tree cover. This data was produced from LiDAR point clouds acquired in February 2017 and with a densit…
