This dataset lists the municipalities (communes) in the Occitanie region of France that are classified as mountain zones. The classification is based on EU Council Regulation No. 1257/1999 of 17 May 1999 on support for rural development, particularly Article 18 concerning mountain areas, as well as Council Directive 76/401/EEC of 6 April 1976.
