This national dataset from Italy's geographic information system defines the elementary volumetric unit associated with a building. A volumetric unit represents a constructed structure whose upper boundary is either a real flat surface, such as a flat roof, or an ideal flat surface used to delimit the building's volume when the actual roof shape (e.g. pitched) is not flat.
