This dataset service provides maps showing blooms of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) detected from satellite data over Swedish waters. Blooms are identifiable by satellite when they occur on or near the sea surface; a bloom that is faint or difficult to detect because it lies below the surface is classified as "risk of surface accumulation," while clearly visible surface blooms are mapped separately. The service is published by SMHI, the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, as part of its INSPIRE-compliant download offerings, and is useful for monitoring coastal and marine water quality and algal bloom risk.BESKRIVNING Kartorna visar blomning av cyanobakterier detekterade från satellitdata.
