This dataset from INSEE, the French national statistics institute, provides historical time series on municipal population counts dating back to 1968, alongside figures on housing, civil status (vital records), and land area. The data derive from population censuses and civil registration, compiled at the municipal level and higher administrative levels, covering all of France except Mayotte.
