This dataset lists more than 6,600 farms in the Netherlands protected as national monuments, covering the main building of the (former) agricultural holding, sometimes part of a larger estate complex. It is derived from the Register of Monuments maintained by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed), using attributes such as original function, description, and monument complex information. Of these, 62 farms have been selected as typical examples of a farm type for a specific region; these are listed separately in the 'Farm types' dataset. Entries also link to photos from the RCE Image Bank and articles in the RCE Knowledge Base covering farm typology.The dataset 'National Monumental Farms' contains more than 6,600 farms that are protected as national monuments. It is the main building of the (former) agricultural company. Sometimes these are farms that are part of a estate complex. The map is based on the Register of Monuments managed by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands. For the selection, various data from the register were used, such as the original function, the description or information about the monument complex. 62 of these farms have been selected as a typical example for a farm type for a particular region or region. These farms are listed in the separate dataset/service 'Farm types'. In addition to the above information from the Monumentenregister, links to photos from the RCE Beeldbank and to articles in the RCE Kennisbank are included.
