This national dataset provides the boundaries of proposed Natural Heritage Areas (pNHA) in Ireland, published on a non-statutory basis in 1995. These sites are recognised for their significance to wildlife and habitats, though they have not since been statutorily proposed or formally designated. A process is currently underway to resurvey selected pNHAs and progress them toward formal designation as Natural Heritage Areas (NHA). The dataset is provided as geospatial data covering the whole country, useful for environmental planning, land-use assessment, and conservation-related analysis.
