This national dataset for Switzerland assesses the potential of lakes and rivers as a source of thermal energy for heating through heat extraction and for cooling through heat discharge. It covers water bodies near urban centers, highlighting the largely untapped renewable energy potential given the proximity of many Swiss cities to lakes and rivers and the maturity of the relevant heat-pump technology.
