This API provides the official legal population figures for French municipalities and municipal arrondissements, as published annually by INSEE, the French national statistics institute. The figures take effect on 1 January, based on administrative boundaries as of 1 January of the previous year and on census data collected three years earlier. Population counts are available for various administrative divisions.
