This dataset lists broadband funding projects located in industrial parks and business areas that were co-financed by the German federal government together with the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, under the Federal Broadband Development Programme launched in 2015. Since fibre-optic network expansion is primarily a market task, public co-funding targets areas where commercial rollout by network operators is not economically viable. The dataset covers projects finally approved by the federal government and financed jointly with the state. Related datasets separately cover area-wide projects and projects for schools and hospitals. It is published by the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action and Energy.The creation of fibre-optic networks is fundamentally the task of the market. In areas where economic development is not possible for network operators, the federal and state governments are jointly promoting expansion. To this end, the Federal Government launched the Federal Broadband Development Programme in 2015. The country participates in the financing (co-financing). The dataset contains an overview of the funding projects co-financed by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which were finally approved by the federal government. The overview shows the broadband projects in the industrial area. There are further data sets for area projects as well as for schools & hospitals.
