This dataset provides access to the Polish Bird Monitoring programme (Monitoring Ptaków Polski, MPP), part of the nature-monitoring subsystem of the national environmental monitoring system coordinated by the Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection. MPP currently comprises 20 sub-programmes covering breeding avifauna and 5 sub-programmes gathering data on migratory and wintering species in Poland. It delivers nationally representative indicators of population status and trends for selected bird species, covering abundance, distribution, and breeding success (for 7 species). The programme is based on Poland's environmental protection and nature conservation acts.It is maintained by the Polish government.Monitoring Ptaków Polski (MPP) prowadzony jest w ramach podsystemu monitoringu przyrody państwowego monitoringu środowiska koordynowanego przez Głównego Inspektora Ochrony Środowiska. Program MPP obecnie obejmuje 20 podprogramów dedykowanych lęgowej awifaunie oraz 5 podprogramów, w ramach których gromadzone są dane na temat gatunków przelotnych oraz zimujących w Polsce. MPP dostarcza reprezentatywnych dla obszaru kraju wskaźników stanu populacji wybranych gatunków ptaków oraz trendów ich zmian. Uzyskiwane wskaźniki dotyczą trzech parametrów: liczebności, rozmieszczenia oraz rozrodu (tylko dla 7 gatunków). Podstawą do realizacji programu jest art. 26 ustawy z dnia 27 kwietnia 2001 r. - Prawo ochrony środowiska oraz art. 112 ustawy z dnia 16 kwietnia 2004 r. o ochronie przyrody.
