This dataset provides guidance on 'normal' background concentrations of contaminant substances found in English soils, produced by the British Geological Survey under commission from Defra to support revision of the Part 2A Contaminated Land Statutory Guidance. It comprises domain polygons and related spatial data delineating areas of typical contaminant levels, served as an INSPIRA-compliant OGC Web Map Service (WMS). The data covers England and is intended to assist assessment of land contamination against baseline soil conditions.The BGS has been commissioned by Defra to provide guidance on what are 'normal' levels of contaminant concentrations in English soils in support of the revision of the Part 2A Contaminated Land Statutory Guidance. The domain polygons and other data produced by this work are served as WMS here.
