This dataset provides yearly maps showing the start of the vegetation active period across Finland, covering both deciduous vegetation and coniferous forest. The start date for deciduous vegetation is defined as the day of year when deciduous trees unfold new leaves in spring, a stage often referred to as the beginning of the growing season. A corresponding indicator is provided for coniferous forest. The maps are produced annually, allowing comparison of phenological timing between years and regions.
