This dataset identifies significant groundwater abstraction pressures affecting waterbodies in Ireland that are assessed as being at risk of failing to meet water quality objectives under the EU Water Framework Directive. Although each waterbody can be subject to multiple pressures, the dataset focuses on those abstraction pressures considered significant enough to require action to achieve or maintain good status. It forms part of Ireland's national water quality risk assessment work, supporting river basin management planning. The data is published via the national open-data portal data.gov.ie and is relevant to water resource management and environmental regulation across the country.Significant pressures have been identified for waterbodies that are At Risk of not meeting their water quality objectives under the Water Framework Directive.
