This dataset presents a benchmark of 166 indicators enabling sports federations, clubs and event organisers in France to self-assess the eco-responsibility of sporting events. Developed by the Ministère chargé des Sports, the indicators draw on frameworks including the Global Reporting Initiative guidelines, ISO 20121 and ISO 26000, the French national sustainable development strategy, the IOC Handbook on Sport and the Environment, and OECD LEED work. They are organised into twelve themes covering environmental, economic and social dimensions, such as consumption and production, waste, water management, transport and mobility, climate and energy, biodiversity, education, health, social inclusion and accessibility, supporting prioritisation of sustainable development actions in sport.”In order to better control resources and energies, it is essential to opt for responsible choices regarding materials and equipment within federations, their clubs, and around their events. The implementation of environmental measures makes it possible to reduce the management budgets of clubs and events: Lower consumption of water, electricity, extension of the life cycle of equipment, etc. The benchmark of indicators to self-assess the eco-responsibility of sporting events is intended as a tool to help prioritise sustainable development for and in sport. The indicators selected were identified on the basis of the following steps: - the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) - ISO 20121:2012 - ISO 26000 - The national strategy for the ecological transition towards sustainable development 2014-2020 - the 2005 IOC Handbook on Sport and the Environment - OECD Economic Development and Local Job Creation (LEED) - the national strategy for the sustainable development of sport and the eco-conditionality grid for an eco-responsible event This base of 166 indicators is organised around 12 themes covering the fields of the environment, the economy and the social sector: 1.
