Assessment of the Biological Water Status: Diatoms
This dataset is part of Switzerland's National Surface Water Quality Monitoring Programme (NAWA), operated jointly by federal and cantonal authorities at around 100 monitoring stations. It provides the assessment of biological water status based on diatom investigations, carried out using the diatom module of the Modular Stepwise Procedure. Diatoms are microscopic algae whose community composition indicates nutrient levels and organic pollution in rivers and streams.
