Ancient and Long-established Woodland Inventory 2010
This dataset provides an inventory of ancient and long-established woodland in Ireland, dated 2010. Ancient woodland refers to woods with a continuous history of tree cover predating the mid-1600s, before planting and afforestation became common practice. Such woodlands hold significant biological and cultural value, and may retain links to prehistoric wildwood. The inventory identifies and maps these sites at national scale, supporting their identification for conservation and land-use planning purposes.
