This dataset maps forest damage areas in Upper Lapland caused by the autumnal moth (tunturimittari), a geometrid moth species known for periodic outbreaks defoliating birch forests. Damage from the early 2000s was identified by interpreting NDVI difference images derived from Landsat and Sentinel-2 satellite imagery, combined with laser-scanned (LiDAR) data on tree height and canopy cover. Results were validated against aerial photographs and field observations.
