This dataset, completed in the early 1990s, contains Finland's main watershed areas, catchment area divisions, and discharge points. Catchment boundaries were delineated based on topography and waterways on 1:50,000 scale paper maps, then digitized using the FINGIS program via blind digitizing. The data follows a hierarchical catchment area classification.
