Public Service Sick Leave Statistics 2013
The Public Service Management (Recruitment and Appointments) (Amendment) Act 2013 was Enacted in December 2013 and provides the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform with the power to make regulations that will set out specific details of the new Sick Leave Scheme for the Public Service. The Public Service Sick Leave Statistics for 2013 were published on 5 March 2015. 2013 figures indicate an average of 9.5 working days taken per full-time employee (FTE) in the public service. This translates to 4.3 % of working days lost to sick leave in the public service with the overall cost of sick leave estimated at EUR 370.8 million for 2013.
