This dataset provides indications of biotope complex areas protected under Section 30(2) of the German Federal Nature Conservation Act (BNatSchG) and Section 13(1) of the Hessian implementing act (HAGBNatSchG). The areas were derived from complex geometries of the Hessian biotope mapping (Biotopkartierung), so consulting the accompanying short information sheet is recommended for correct interpretation. The underlying biotope mapping data were compiled over a multi-year survey period.
