Geological Map of the Baltic Sea at a scale of 1:200,000 – surficial and subsurface sediments

APIExecutable4/7Query nowOpen workbenchSubscribe🇵🇱Poland

This dataset provides a harmonised geological map of the Baltic Sea seabed at a scale of 1:200,000, showing surficial and subsurface sediments. Sediment types are classified according to F.P. Shepard's classification system. The data conform to the INSPIRE Geology – Geologic Map data specification, enabling interoperability with other European geological datasets. It is published by the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute (PIG-PIB), the national body responsible for geological surveying in Poland, and covers the national maritime area of the Baltic Sea.The dataset supports studies of seabed geology, sediment distribution, and marine spatial planning.Harmonised dataset presents the geological map of the Baltic Sea at a scale of 1:200,000 – surficial and subsurface sediments. Sediment types were distinguished based on F.P. Shepard's classification. The dataset complies with the INSPIRE Geology – Geologic Map model.
