This dataset provides access to the ARCADE database maintained by the French national archives (Archives nationales), covering records produced by the historical bureau in charge of art commissions, museums and exhibitions. The files, held mainly in sub-series F/21 at the Pierrefitte-sur-Seine site, document orders and purchases of artworks by the French state, including paintings, sculptures and decorative pieces intended for public museums and institutions.
