This dataset delineates urban areas (aires urbaines) as defined by INSEE, the French national statistics institute, for 2010. An urban area is a set of contiguous, enclave-free municipalities formed by an urban pole (unité urbaine) together with surrounding municipalities from which a defined share of the working population commutes to that pole.
