This API provides data from the bathing water quality monitoring programme of the Region of Crete, implemented under EU Directive 2006/7/EC. It covers 177 monitored beaches across the island's coastline, all classified as excellent quality bathing waters. Nationally, Greece monitors 1,634 bathing beaches, ranking fourth among 31 European countries, with 95.7% of its beaches rated excellent. The application, which includes map layers such as beaches and municipal seats, was funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Operational ProgrammeΗ παρακολούθηση της ποιότητας των Υδάτων Κολύμβησης πραγματοποιείται σε ακτές που κολυμπά μεγάλος αριθμός ατόμων. Στην Ελλάδα παρακολουθούνται συνολικά 1.634 κολυμβητικές ακτές.
