12 Nautical Mile Fisheries Control Ireland
This API provides spatial data on the twelve nautical mile fisheries limit around Ireland, within which Irish-registered fishing vessels hold exclusive fishing rights. Between six and twelve nautical miles, certain fishing vessels flying the flags of the UK, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany retain historical fishing rights under longstanding arrangements. The dataset is maintained by the Marine Institute and supports marine spatial planning, fisheries management and control activities related to national and shared fishing zones around the Irish coast.The twelve nautical mile limit pertains to fisheries and it gives exclusive rights to Irish registered fishing vessels to fish in those waters.
