Mensen bewegen in hun vrije tijd, bijvoorbeeld als ze sporten of een ommetje lopen. Ook bewegen ze als ze ergens heen moeten, bijvoorbeeld als ze naar hun werk fietsen of naar de supermarkt lopen. De Kernindicator Beweegvriendelijke Omgeving houdt met beide vormen van beweging rekening. De score is berekend met een model. Het model maakt gebruik van openbare gegevens, zoals de aanwezigheid van sportaccomodaties, sport- en speelplekken, de afstand tot voorzieningen en de hoeveelheid recreatief groen en
